Clastan is Now using Social Health Authority ( SHA). All You Need is Your Phone and ID To Register.
The Social Health Assistance (SHA) in Kenya, under the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF), is part of the government’s strategy to provide universal health coverage to all Kenyans. Registering with SHA allows access to affordable healthcare services across registered hospitals and clinics. Here’s a general guide on how to register:
1. Check Eligibility
- All Kenyans are eligible, including employees in both the public and private sectors, as well as informal sector workers.
2. Gather Required Documents
- Kenyan National ID for adults or Birth Certificate for children.
- NHIF Membership Number if already registered.
- Proof of residence, such as utility bills, may be required in some cases.
3. Choose a Registration Method
You can register through different channels:
- NHIF Service Centers or Huduma Centers: Visit any NHIF branch or Huduma Center to complete registration in person.
- Mobile Registration (USSD): Dial *155# and follow the prompts for registration and contributions.
- NHIF Online Portal: Register through the NHIF portal by creating an account on nhif.or.ke.
- Mobile App: The NHIF app is available for Android and iOS, allowing you to register, check contributions, and access services.
4. Complete Registration and Select a Payment Plan
- Fill out the registration form and choose your preferred payment plan. For employed individuals, contributions are deducted directly from their salary, while informal sector workers can make voluntary contributions.
5. Submit Documents and Make Initial Payment
- Submit any required documents and make your first contribution through the NHIF payment channels (Mpesa, banks, or NHIF service desks).
6. Receive Confirmation and Membership Card
- After registration, you will receive a confirmation message or a membership card. Your NHIF account will be active, giving you access to SHA benefits.
7. Start Using SHA Benefits
- Once registered, you can access healthcare services at accredited hospitals and clinics that are part of the NHIF network.
